Shannon, an incredible youth worker at HideOut is taking on a 40 day lent change and raising money to support us here at HideOut! Heres what she has to say:

Hi, I’m Shannon, a youth worker at Hideout Youth Zone. Over the 40 days of Lent, I am completing a challenge per day to raise money so that the young people who use Hideout Youth Zone can access more provision. It will mean that they have additional opportunities to develop and grow. Equally, they will be able to continue having something to do, somewhere to go, and someone to talk to. Working with these young people is amazing. I love seeing them grow and develop. However, if we want to continue to work with and ultimately make a bigger impact on the young people of Manchester, we need more funds.

The challenge will end on Easter Sunday, by which time I plan to have covered 250 miles. It is the equivalent distance between where I was brought up (and where my family still lives) and where I live now. I will be cycling, walking, running and dancing. Some of the challenges will be chosen by the young people that I work with. These will include things like doing press-ups and sit-ups. I am to do a different challenge each day. If you have any challenges that you would like me to complete (they must be covid safe), please tell me as I would love your input.

All of the money raised will be put towards supporting the young people who use Hideout or are connected to Hideout in some way. No matter how much or little you donate, it will really benefit these young people that I work with.

You can sponsor me per challenge that I complete or for the whole thing.
