Catering Assistant

Job Title: Catering Assistant

Hours: From 4.5 hours per week (evenings, weekends & school holidays only)

Salary: £8.92 per hour

Location: HideOut Youth Zone

HideOut Youth Zone’s state-of-the-art £6.6m facility opened in September 2020 to provide an engaging and inspiring place for thousands of young people aged 8 – 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) to spend their leisure time.  Open 7-nights a week, 52-weeks a year plus school holidays, the Youth Zone’s incredible facilities include a 3G pitch, skate park, 30ft climbing wall, boxing/mixed martial arts gym, 4-court sports hall, sensory room, fitness suite, recreation area and dance, arts, music and media suites and much more.

THE ROLE

Our café – Queen Bee’s – is an essential part of the offer for our members and sits at the heart of the Youth Zone.  Open throughout each Youth Club session plus school holidays and for supporter events, our team of Catering Assistants play an integral role in the cooking inspiring and healthy dishes that appeal to our members as well as proving a warm and welcoming environment to all.

THE PERSON

You will:

  • -Have experience of working within a busy catering environment and dealing with customers face-to-face
  • -Have experience of handling cash
  • -Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • -Be highly reliable
  • -Have knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental issues relating to catering
  • -Be committed to providing a first-class catering provision for children and young people
  • -Be passionate about the aims and mission of HideOut Youth Zones and East Manchester.

A vital front of house role, our Reception & Membership Co-ordinators are the first point of contact for HideOut’s members (children and young people aged 8-19 years, up to 25 for those with additional needs) and their parents, plus our staff/volunteers, supporters and guests. You will be a key part of a welcoming and highly professional team who ensure that the Youth Zone functions to its maximum potential. You will manage the busy reception area, ensuring young people enter the session smoothly and their attendance and payments accurately recorded, processing new members, directing phone calls and enquiries, maintaining the membership database efficiently and carrying out regular communications.

THE PERSON

You will:

  • -Have proven experience of managing or supervising a busy reception desk
  • -Be highly organised and able to work in a demanding and lively environment
  • -Be able to engage and interact with all audiences including children, young people, parents and visitors
  • -Have a calm and approachable manner
  • -Be highly reliable
  • -Demonstrate a strong commitment to young people and have the ability to engage and build positive relationships
  • -Be passionate about the aims and mission of HideOut Youth Zones and East Manchester.
