Over 400 young people join together for the annual OnSide President’s Cup

Over 400 young people descended on Warrington Youth Zone on Saturday 13th May for the annual OnSide President’s Cup for a day of fun, colour, noise and friendship.

18 young people from HideOut Youth Zone attended the event, taking part in activities and challenges in an effort to take home the President Cup trophy.

HideOut’s young people put on an excellent display of their talents, and we are pleased to share that our young people came third and were awarded the bronze medal for their efforts.

The President’s Cup is a competition which aims to bring together young people from across the OnSide network.

The OnSide network is a growing group of Youth Zones across the UK, which national youth charity, OnSide, fund, build, launch and support. The OnSide network supports over 50,000 young people nationwide.

All 15 Youth Zones were represented at the event, with young people from upcoming in-development Youth Zones such as Grimsby, Bristol and Leeds also in attendance.

Throughout the day, young people took part in various activities such as rock climbing, enterprise, art, dance, gym and much more, with hosts, Warrington Youth Zone, providing entertainment and food throughout the day.

One young person who attended the event said:

“It was a very good day and lots of fun. I’ve done lots of things like karaoke, the gym challenge and I’ve participated in everything. It’s lovely here and I’ve met so many people.”

OnSide CEO and HideOut Youth Zone Board member, Jamie Masraff added:

“The President’s Cup is always such an amazing, colourful event. This year was no different on that front, but it was our biggest yet and I’d like to say a huge thank you to all who made this happen, including our incredible hosts Warrington Youth Zone.

“It was so inspiring seeing young people getting stuck in to all the challenges and activities, often trying things for the first time, with huge smiles on their faces. The real joy, though, was seeing young people from 18 different towns, cities and communities across the country coming together as one to make new friends and enjoy such a special day together. A really proud day for OnSide and our brilliant network.”
