On Tuesday 21st April, Salford Youth Zone travelled to Parliament for an inspiring and insightful day, celebrating the impact of the Youth Investment Fund.

Senior members Ellen and Christabel, alongside Youth Work Apprentice Carter and Head of Youth Work Joe Amos, were welcomed into a vibrant reception, together with local MPs, youth organizations and advisory boards from across the UK.

Reflecting on the incredible journey of the Youth Investment Fund since first launching in 2022, the day served as a powerful reminder of the continued importance of championing young voices and the dedicated youth workers that support them.

In a workshop led by Dr Lauren Sullivan MP, attendees were able to share their own experiences of youth work, as well as their ambitions for future youth leadership and how the government can better amplify young voices in policymaking.

The trip also served as some of our members’ very first trip to London, giving them the opportunity to explore some of the iconic landmark sites, build connections with other young people and engage in meaningful discussions directly with changemakers.

Speaking on the experience, Christabel shared: “The experience was absolutely great – I had lots of great discussions, met lots of people and saw how there are so many ways to help young people.”

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Social Investment Business and Youth Investment Fund for inviting our young people and making this experience possible. Check out more highlights from the day’s events here
